Criteria

In order to be considered, the student must:

  • be listed on the official roster of the MacEwan University Griffin Athletics Men's or Women's Hockey team for the given academic year;
  • have demonstrated leadership abilities, and be involved in the community;
  • possess personal qualities such as dedication, commitment and strength of character; and
  • be nominated by his/her coach.

Preference will be given to supporting deserving Griffin Hockey athletes who face challenges balancing their financial obligations with their academic and athletic schedule.

Disbursement Criteria

For funds to be disbursed, successful applicants must be enrolled in a full-time course load and be in good academic standing.

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Sports excellence
  • Academic excellence

Selection criteria

The Athletic Director and the MacEwan hockey coaching staff shall be responsible for the selection of the recipients.

Recipients will be notified via e-mail. Committee selections are final, appeals will not be considered.

Typically given out in the Fall term.
