Two academic references
For applicants who have obtained their undergraduate degrees outside of Canada, we require GRE/GMAT test results
Students are required to apply to both programs and be admitted by both programs separately. Applications must be made for JD admission through Ontario Law Schools Application Center (OLSAS) and for admission to the MIR degree through the School of Graduate Studies.
Candidates must meet the following admission requirements for both programs, including writing the LSAT.
4-year bachelor's honour degree in any discipline.
LSAT score ≥ 160 (80th percentile)
The academic requirement for admission is a four year Canadian honours bachelor degree with a minimum of a B+/GPA 3.3/77-80%, or equivalent. Competition for acceptance into the program can be quite high, with an average of 100 international applicants competing for the single available funded placement in the program. The academic averages of a successful applicant typically exceed the minimum eligibility requirement. As such, before applying, it is in an applicant's best interest to make a well-considered decision regarding their competitive chances for acceptance into the program.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) - score of 7 on the academic module
For international students, if required, TOEFL iBT minimum scores of: writing (24/30), speaking (22/30), reading (22/30), listening (20/30), for a total of 88/120. Applicants must have the minimum score in each test as well as the minimum overall score.

课程简介
劳资关系硕士/法学博士学位(MIR / JD)是一项为期三年半的联合学位课程,合并了人力资源管理方面的研究生培训
The Juris Doctor/Master of Industrial Relations (JD/MIR) is a three-and-a-half-year combined degree program. In partnership with Queen's Faculty of Law, the JD/MIR was established in response to strong demand from the law profession for graduates with expertise in employment and labour law. Now a Queen's exclusive, the JD/MIR is the only dual degree of its kind in Canada, merging graduate training in human resources management, employment and labour policy with a professional degree in law.
Being able to stand in both worlds, JD/MIR students graduate with a distinct advantage. By completing the MIR concurrent with a JD education, students not only expand their learning but are able to cross-apply credits that reduce their overall time of study and expense, realizing a savings of more than 9000 compared with completing the two degrees separately.

The world of work is changing rapidly, making employment and labour law one of the most reactive areas of the law profession, but also one of the most satisfying. Work defines who we are – as people and as a society. By pairing a law degree with a Master of Industrial Relations you will have a direct hand in setting workplace standards, negotiating collective agreements, protecting human rights and ensuring pay equity. Better workplaces lead to a better quality of life – which is better for everyone.
