A great institution in creating lasting memories

The university is everything a student could ask for, especially if you are looking for a campus lifestyle. The quality of education is good, and the lecturers and tutors are willing to help. The students here are really nice and friendly, and truly practice the saying, "Play hard, work hard". Being able to be in a community who strives to do better everyday and have fun at the same time has grown me to be a better individual both physically and mentally. Warwick has definitely given me a taste and prepared me for the 'real-world'. I arrived at Warwick naive and fearful, left as a well-learned and confident person. All in all, my tenure at Warwick university was a great experience. Looking back to the first day, I am glad that I stepped foot on the place which has created memories that I would cherish for a lifetime.

Great university, if you know what you are looking for.

Admission Process (5*)
The admission process went smooth as far as I can remember. Application via UCAS was straightforward and the results of my application were informed there. You should be fine as long as you meet the minimum grade requirements and write a decent personal statement. My CAS number was issued by the University via email with more than enough time to obtain a visa.

Funding and Scholarship (N/A)
Not applicable to me as I have not applied for one. However, it appears that university scholarship for undergraduate degrees are more limited relative to master’s degrees. If you're looking for scholarship, the UK has a few organisations that offer scholarships as well.

If you intend to fund your own fees, the tuition fees are £20,000 per annum for a degree in Accounting & Finance and rising.

Study experience (4*)
I am convinced that having the knowledge does not automatically means you have the ability to teach and there are some lecturers and tutors who are able to do both. You will be responsible for your own education and will have to put in extra hours revising.

You will roughly need 3 hours of self study for every 1 hour of contact hours (based on the CAT system) Obviously, above average students will be able to put in less hours and still gain a comprehensive understanding of the module.

The study spaces on university are sufficient during the first 2 terms of the academic year, but it can be very difficult to get a space in the 3rd term as the summer examination starts. This situation is exacerbate by students who hog study spaces in the library but this is mitigated by the recent implementation of a monitoring system that allows you to push aside belongings left by previous students if they leave their desk for a certain amount of time.

Life experience (4*)
This will depend mostly on how much you invest your time in activities other than studying. The university boast a long list of club and societies you can participate in, and you can even create your own if the club you intend to join does not exist. There is also a sports centre on campus and has courts, a gym, and even a room for wall climbing. However, to participate, you will need to sign up for their respective membership and will not be included in the tuition fees you pay to the university.
There is an Art Cinema that has many productions that are worth watching, pubs and snack bars run by the student union which is convenient if you need a bite in between classes, a grocery store, and banks (Barclays and Santander) for your convenience. There is also a bar and a club if you are interested in the night life in university. A chaplain is also available on campus for spiritual needs.
I have not experienced the counselling and support network here in the university personally, but I heard from a friend that the counselling session she has attended was helpful.

Job prospect (5*)
I have the impression that Warwick is a strong brand and is recognised by employers in the UK especially in the field of business. I also have the impression that UK degrees are looked on highly by Malaysian employers and I am confident in securing a graduate job in my field shortly after leaving university.
The university also has an excellent Student Careers & Skills department which I have utilised over the year to better prepare myself for interview sessions and assessment centres that employers use to screen potential employees. The department also has sessions which can improve your soft skills (writing, speaking, speed reading etc.) and the sessions I have been to so far have been helpful and I still practice some of the tips that I have learnt today.

Great place to meet driven individuals and world renown lecturers

I have just graduated and I found that Warwick tends to attract driven individuals who goes the extra mile. Moreover, the university environment pushes and guides you to acheive career goals. The societies are also driven to support students through engaging with corporates to share about available opportunities and due to the Warwick brand, students often land good jobs. For those more keen on entrepreneurship, there are lots of support for budding entrepreneurs. For those who are more keen on academics, there are also lots of research opportunities. Researchers are keen on getting extra help from students.

You will always find your own fit in the university. However, if you like something more laid back, perhaps, it is not the best place to be.

I have to be honest, the tuition fee for social sciences like economics and accounting & finance are above the average rate but Warwick has developed a good reputation and cost of living is not as high as cities like London.

A study place with an excellent culture for career preparation

Warwick has pretty much everything in terms of support offices, especially in helping its students to be prepared in working life. The exposure that support offices is giving are massive - from career fair to personal help. The environment has been encouraging, just a bit off in terms
Academics throughout my course have been quite tough but pretty much covered most areas of the discipline that we would like to venture into.

studying and studying and studying!

I didn’t expect that I’d have to study soooo much to pass my courses! I knew it would be difficult and that all universities and degrees in England require much studying but this is just too much! I don’t say I don’t like it, it’s a very good university and the courses are very interesting and qualify us much in the end! The good thing is that we don’t have to take any exams, we pass the courses by doing projects, but the projects need too much studying and work that you are left with no time to do anything else, plus they have quite short deadlines. Of course the libraries are very resourceful and the professors very helpful so that helps us a lot. Even after all the studying, at the end of the day, I feel really blessed to have studied here and have had this experience abroad! If you can take the pressure you should definitely come here!

Don't know

I’m quite satisfied by my university, the courses are very interesting- more interesting than I expected I could say. We have very good teachers that really engage with us students and always try to find ways to make the lectures better and efficient. The courses are not all theory like in other universities, we do a lot of projects and research and we don’t have to take exams. It’s not easy, we have to study a lot to pass each course but I think it’s fairer this way, and we can show what we deserve without the time pressure of a 2-hour exam. Living on campus has its benefits but if you want social life and party is better living off campus, as everything closes very early and you don’t really have many choices! In general I’ve really enjoyed my time here!

The Warwick Experience

The University experience is wonderful and enlightening. It has shown me that further education can be extremely beneficial towards furthering my mind and the environment around me. I feel that the University experience proves to be beneficial towards each individual student involved and can be used to the fullest towards completing personal goals and targets.

Work Hard, Play Hard

I think that the main advantage of studying at Warwick is the fact that it is considered a target school for economics, hence it is relatively easy to find a job in investment banking or consulting, which is where most economics graduate aim to work after the completion of their course. Furthermore, it is a very international university, hence you can find almost any type of people you want. Campus life can become quite monotonous compared to city life, however Birmingham is close by, and London is only an hour away if you take the Virgin train. Leamington Spa is also quite nice for student life and it is a very short bus ride away. In terms of teaching, most professors received their qualifications from the top universities in the world, and they are very knowledgeable, nevertheless, personally, sometimes I found the quality of lectures relatively dissatisfying, mostly because I enjoy having a close relationship with my teachers, and this is difficult in my course due to the high number of students per class. My advice to someone thinking of studying at Warwick, and in particular Economics is to be prepared to have a lot of material to study, but also to have a great time while you're here.

The campus and overall atmosphere is really nice to study in especially if you like the countryside. Everything is near by so distances are short. There are many courses to chose from.
